Conveyor System for Transporting Pallets Between the First and the Second Floor
For one of the largest factories in the country specializing in packaging and product assembly for the food industry, we designed and installed a conveyor system for pallet transport.
The automated pallet transport has streamlined and accelerated order picking according to the individual requirements of customers.
The conveyor system is designed for the automatic transport of pallets with goods between the first and second floors. It consists of two equally wide tracks positioned side by side.
Conveyor Line
The entire conveyor line consists of lifts, roller conveyors, turntables, and centering conveyors. The transport operates bidirectionally.
The route includes loading/unloading roller conveyors:
• On the ground floor (1st floor): high-speed roll-up doors, centering conveyors, two technological lifts with roller conveyors, and loading/unloading roller conveyors.
• On the second floor (approx. +4200 mm): two turntables, powered roller conveyors, and conveyors with centering features.
Pallet loading and unloading are performed manually using a pallet jack.
Transported Goods
- Wooden EUR pallets: 1,200 x 800 mm
- Minimum pallet dimensions: 800 x 800 x 2,000 mm
- Maximum pallet dimensions: 1,600 x 1,600 x 2,000 mm
- Maximum height of goods with pallet: 2,000 mm
- Maximum weight of goods with pallet: 1,000 kg
Technical Parameters of the Line
- Total length of conveyor routes: approx. 45 m
- Conveyor height in the corridor: 600 mm
- Lift height: 4,200 mm
- Effective conveyor width: 1,700 mm
- Capacity: 20 pallets/hour (downward direction)
- Capacity: 50 pallets/hour (upward direction)
- Transport speed: approx. 0.25 m/s

Electrical Components
Our delivery includes the control system. The electrical components are installed in distribution cabinets.
Once a pallet is loaded onto the loading conveyor, it moves in AUT mode forward to the other end of the line, reaching the unloading conveyor. This movement is controlled by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The CPU of the PLC executes the control logic, which reads input status signals from sensors, controllers, etc., through I/O peripherals. Based on these conditions, motors are activated, enabling pallet movement.
Since pallet dimensions vary, four-beam light barriers are implemented. A touchscreen panel is used as the operator interface.
In AUT mode, the automatic pallet movement is managed and monitored. Pallets can be tracked, and in case of any issues, contextual messages provide solutions.
Safety in the conveyor area is ensured through protective fencing, consisting of welded frames with mesh and posts.
